Past Qualms about Shopping Online

Today, online shopping is a relatively secure activity compared to ten years ago. Back then, most of us probably had a few suspicious questions in mind like “Will I actually get the items that I paid for?”, “Can I trust this website?”, or even something absurdly humorous like “Can I pay using cash online because I don’t trust them with my credit card?” Many of us have had qualms even about buying inexpensive items online in the past. Obviously, no one would have dared to buy gold bullion online back then too. Fortunately, it is an entirely different story today thanks to the strong security practices of online merchants, online currency services, and local banks.

Matthew Finally Asks Olya Out on a Date

Matthew finally found the guts to ask Olya out for a date. He had a crush on her ever since they first met in grade school. He was nervous at first when he approached her in the school cafeteria that day. Olya looked extra beautiful today in her casual pink dress. She saw him walk towards her but pretended not to notice him as he sat down at the table. Matthew was stuttering when he said, "H-e-el-lo, O-o-l-ya."

Olya turned around and smiled at Matthew, all the while acting surprised. Her smile gave him confidence and he asked her, "Olya, would you like to go out on a date with me?" Now Olya was really surprised. She never knew that Matthew was actually interested in her. Who would have thought that the star athlete of the school would be interested to date a Geek like her? Without hesitation, she immediately said, "Yes, I would like that."

Strength of Materials Video 5: Analysis of Stress 4

This is the fifth video in the Strength of Materials series; Analysis of Stress 4. Explained in this video is Recap of Tranformation Equations, Recapping on Evaluation of Stresses using Mohr’s Circle, Octahedral Planes & Stresses on such Planes, and Examples for Evaluation of Stresses at Different Planes. Solution to the exercises of the previous video as well as a new exercise is provided. This video lecture was presented by Professor S.K. Bhattacharyya from Department of Civil Engineering, I.I.T, Kharagpur, India, videos are made available by the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, a joint venture by Indian institutes of technology & Indian institutes of science. Chainsaw Mountain Lion

Chainsaw at hand, Jake the lumberjack walked towards the hundred year old spruce tree. The tree must have been the biggest he had ever seen in this forest. He got separated from his team because they had to maintain a particular distance from each other for safety purposes. He revs up his trusty chainsaw; its paint layer scratched all over leaving traces of rust after years of intense wear and tear. “RRRrrrrrRROOAARRR”, the chainsaw’s engine revved into action and Jake started to swing it towards the mighty spruce tree.

There was something else that roared too although Jake did not hear it. Jake was deep in focus, perhaps too deep. The muscular big cat pounced towards his side easily from ten feet away. Fortunately for Jake, the mountain lion missed his neck as he leaned inwards while maneuvering his chainsaw deeper into the tree. Jake felt the contact of the big cat on his body and that really startled him. The force from the contact made Jake fall over on his stomach while his chainsaw remained stuck inside the tree.

After he saw the Mountain lion on his back, Jake instinctively elbowed its face, got up and quickly ran away. He cried for help, hoping his teammates would hear him. The mountain lion pursued and Jake ran deeper into the woods. Whenever he thought he lost his feline pursuer, the big cat would reveal itself in the distance, stalking him like its inevitable prey.

Strength of Materials Video 4: Analysis of Stress 3

This is the fourth video in the Strength of Materials series; Analysis of Stress 3. Explained in this video are Evaluating stresses on any plane through stress transformation equations, Evaluate Principal stresses & locate principal planes for 2-D problems, Evaluate maximum shear stresses at a point on a body for 2-D problems, and Construct Mohr’s Circle for stress.
